How to Start a Conversation

Texts & Social Media

Conversations don't always start when meeting face-to-face.

If you're nervous or shy, a strategy that might help is by talking through texts or social media (in a private chat).

Talking can Help

We all know it's hard to start a conversation especially when it's about a serious topic like chronic stress. But starting a conversation with someone can help tremendously if you want to take that first step.

Breaking the Ice

Here are some sentences that might help break the tension.

"Hey, do you think we can meet up over some tea? There's been something on my mind for a while."

"I'm not doing very well. There's a lot going on and I want to talk to you about something."

"You know how I'm always a worrier. Well, I'm having a tough time and it's getting worrisome..."

"I need your advice on something. I'm really stressed out and I don't really know what to do."

"Hey, I'm feeling pretty crappy today. You think we could talk together or get together soon-ish?"
